Days out with Mum

Our Story

My Unforgettable Life was born out of time spent with my Mum over the last few years, following her diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease.

We were aware that Parkinson's dementia would follow, so took advantage of the time we had left, and spent plenty of days out (always with a coffee and massive slice of cake! 🍰)

Once the dementia took hold, Mum's stories stopped coming, as did a lot of the coherent communication, and the clarity faded.  It was replaced by confusion and heartbreaking moments of recognition that she was going downhill.

In 2025, Mum is unable to get out of bed.  Sometimes when I visit she'll recognise me, and sometimes she doesn't.  We'll talk together as best we can, but often don't understand one another's strands of conversation.

I have wonderful old photos and many memories of my Mum, but my son (Mum's only grandson) doesn't have many memories at all—he was young as her condition worsened.  I wish I'd had the presence of mind to capture her on video before we got to these latter stages; saving and storing her memories, her personality and her wisdom for future generations, sadly I didn't.  Maybe I didn't realise how quickly the moment would pass.  Maybe we were too busy eating cake.

I thought of the concept too late to be able to immortalise Mum's life.

My Unforgettable Life is a way to preserve your voice, your stories and your personality — before it’s too late. So your memories live on, not just in our hearts, but in something real, something that can be watched, heard and shared for generations.
